I just noticed from your process photo of the fruit dessert that you use one color pencil at a time, then move on to the next color, rather than finish one whole object, then move on to the next? I guess it is a somewhat painterly approach rather than a drawing approach. Thank you for sharing those images — it helps me to understand your process more! I love your exquisite sketches! I have been using colored pencils more lately, and I always think of you when I do.

Thank you Shantele – Everything was so beautiful to look at and the colour of strawberries so delicious and just pops off the page

Tina – I am not sure if I have a method! I tend to draw the objects on the page in the colour of the finished object (Red for strawberries) to position the drawing on the page. Then I just flit all over the page. I guess I do use one colour at a time now that you mention it. But I often go back , building up layers and areas of colour. I may start with the red as my first pencil, but it also might be the final pencil I pick up if I am adding a very fine line to an edge (remembering to have sharpened my pencil first ). I hope this explains my approach a bit more
